Mountaingate, CA is a popular, gated neighborhood noted for its ideal location atop the Santa Monica Mountains with magnificent views of the City and the ocean.

Mountaingate Development

The first phase in the Mountaingate development was the Country Club and golf courses, built in 1970. The residential portion of the community is made up of town houses and single family residents. The first homes, which are townhouse/condominiums, were constructed in 1979.

Mountaingate homes and condominiums

Mountaingate features four-communities-in-one for a total of 307 residences — 187 single-family dwellings and 130 town homes/condominiums. There are three townhouse communities – The Vista, The Terrace, and The Ridge, and the remainder are single-family homes some of which are attached and others that are completely free standing. In addition there is a small gated street with four homes.

Mountaingate security

Most of the Mountaingate community is served by 24-hour guard-gated security, and guards patrol all neighborhoods 24/7 for added security and privacy around the clock. Residents of each community also enjoy a beautiful community pool, and some of the neighborhoods have other amenities such as a recreation room, or tennis courts.

Because of its altitude, many days you can drive down Mountaingate Drive. leaving the already sun-baked landscape and enter the low-lying fog below. In the evening, you have city and ocean vistas. Certainly, what attracts people to Mountaingate is its unique mountain environment – steep mountains on all sides, lots of pine and oak trees native to the area, and incredible views.

Mountaingate Country Club and golf courses

Another of the specialness of the Mountaingate community but totally separate is the private Mountaingate Country Club which features two magnificent golf courses that wends their way through the canyons and arroyos of the property and is regarded as one of the top golf experiences in Los Angeles. Mountaingate CC features two golf layouts – the Lake-North course, par 70, and the North-South, par 71. The Club also features a very active social and recreational calendar and has six tennis courts, a restaurant, snack shop, pro shop and other amenities including a gym, and spa.
