The Amazing Community of Santa Monica
Santa Monica is situated on the Santa Monica Bay and surrounded on three sides by the City of Los Angeles — including the communities of Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, West Los Angeles, Mar Vista and Venice. Santa Monica is blessed with both broad beaches, rich canyons and picturesque mountains that have made the city famous for its hospitality services. It is one of California’s most famed resort towns, featuring boutique and luxury hotels, world-famous restaurants.
Its landmark Santa Monica Pier juts out into the Pacific and features a world-famous merry-go-round, Ferris wheel and even a mini roller coaster. It has been featured in many movies because of its broad streets and one-mile park that meanders on the bluffs overlooking the broad beaches below. It is the home of many entertainment and digital arts companies who have chosen this beach-side community because of its incredible climate and modern business parks and office towers.
What stands out in Santa Monica’s history has been its drive to upgrade all of the city’s infrastructure — underground electricity, newly paved and re-configured streets and pathways, new signage, controlled development which has attracted the best of Hollywood technical firms, and is today, one of Google’s and Yahoo! premier office headquarters.
Santa Monica’s residential neighborhoods are made up of large homes within walking distance to one of the primary, fun shopping areas, Montana as well as smaller beach bungalows, condominiums and apartments. One of the other major assets of Santa Monica is its public school system which is separate from the Los Angeles City Schools.
Since it is the “end-of-the-road” for US Interstate 10 which traverses the entire country from East to West, it’s another California mecca where visitors from the East drive right to the Santa Monica Pier and are greeted by palm trees, the blue Pacific, sunbathers and surfers. They leap out of their cars and say, “well, dear, it’s just like in the movies!”
