Happy Fourth of July! We Americans know how to celebrate our Independence Day….with parades, fireworks, concerts in the park, and BBQs in our backyard. Regardless of your country origin, July 4th is always one of “red, white, and blue” joy that help us remember when we declared our independence from “the Kingdom of Great Britain” on July 4, 1776, some 227 years ago. This was the actual day of signing the Declaration of Independence of America’s Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain by the Second Continental Congress, which met in Philadelphia.
From the very beginning, Americans always set aside July 4th as a special holiday, and fireworks was an early part of the celebration. Although fireworks are not allowed within the City of Los Angeles, there is an abundance of firework shows throughout Los Angeles County. Fireworks extravaganzas are held in the Rose Bowl and Hollywood Bowl (with a concert), and special fireworks shows are in Marina del Rey, Santa Monica, and Pacific Palisades.
Yes, we Americans love our country, and there has been few who expressed their love of America more than George M. Cohan, who, as an actor, composer, singer, dancer, and producer was to millions the ‘face of our July 4th celebration’ through his music and Broadway shows, including such patriotic standards as “Over There”, “The Yankee Doodle Boy”, and “You’re a Grand Old Flag”. ! I will be at my home in Coronado where they celebrate it with a parade, concert in the park and fireworks! Great Fun! Have a safe and happy Fourth of July.
Please remember I am here for all of your real estate needs, however big or small they may be. Just one word of caution, please be as fire safe as you can be. I cannot tell how many people I see tossing their cigarettes out the window in and around our community. Have a wonderful holiday and I will see you soon.
