Fall 2013 Quarterly Updates

Fall springs eternal…the quiet season is always welcome
Fall is my favorite time of year as we move from “hot” to “cool”….and a new order begins — the change of colors — trees and plants turning from green to oranges and reds and finally to brown, and a calm restored as students get back to school, football season begins in earnest, and focus returns fully to the tasks at hand. And I suppose what I love best is our Indian Summers.
Historically, our ‘selling seasons’ have been strong springs and summers, which is a national trend, but our selling season continues well into the fall and generally is moderated a bit during the winter: Our great climate and continued strong demand for our fine communities enable us to counter seasonal trends elsewhere. You may be a bit confused if you have been watching the trends in real estate the past nine months — one day, a national index reflects that Los Angeles residential prices are up 20+%, and the next day, you see that pending homes sales are behind from the previous month, which begs the question — are we trending up or down (yes I know I have mentioned this before)? We don’t live in a vacuum, of course, but our enclave of culturally rich, fine residential communities ‘protect’ us from the vagaries of wild swings in real estate prices and the demand we find in other parts of the country. As a generalization, for the first nine months of 2013, we are still ahead in total sales and median sales prices remain ahead.
News flash: I was recognized as one of the Top 500 agents for Coldwell Banker nationwide (out of 41,000 agents). And thanks to all of you and my staff for making this possible.
In the meantime, I look forward to enjoying our lovely fall and heading into the holiday season. Please let me know how I might assist you with any of your real estate needs.
