Carved out of wetlands and swamp in the late early 1960s, Marina del Rey today is one of the world’s largest pleasure boat harbors, boasting over approximately 5,300 slips, a plethora of restaurants and shops,  high- and low-rise condominiums and apartments that front the more than eight miles of water frontage.  Under ths supervision of the Corps of Engineers and Los Angeles County, Marina del Rey has seen its second generation of new condominium towers and slips that attract Angelinos and visitors from around the world.
